Q: How do updates work?
A: You can always update your software by
downloading the latest
version and installing it.
The installation procedure will check for an existing version
of the software on your computer and update it.
Both licensed and unlicensed versions can be updated in this way.
You can always load older layout plans in newer versions
of the software.
Q: Thought I'd like to try your software and thus
have downloaded the trial version. However, I receive
the following message when I attempt to install:
"The System Administrator has set policies to prevent this
installation." What should I do?
A: This problem pops up every now and then on some computers.
Most often, the download was corrupted in some way.
Please try again with a fresh download from this
alternative location.
If that doesn't work, and you're on Vista, the easiest solution is
to switch
UAC off during the install. If you've got the download from our
website, we can guarantee it's virus-free. Switch it off as follows:
Q: How do I make my table something other than a square
or rectangle? My layout is going to be a T shape.
A: The width and height that you can define in the
Tools/Options menu only define the dimensions of the workspace.
A table can be drawn with the drawing tool as follows:
- Right-click on the work area, and select 'Add line/surface'.
A line with two endpoints appears.
- Right click on an endpoint, and select 'Add point'.
A third point appears.
- Repeat this step until you have a point for each corner of your
projected table. To add a point, you can also press 'p' while
hovering a line or a point of the figure.
- Right click on a point, and select 'Close line'.
Your line becomes a surface.
- Now, drag the points into place to form the table.
While you drag a point, you can see its coordinates in the status
bar at the bottom of the window.
- If you wish to position the points precisely,
double click them and set the x and y coordinates.
There are several options to change the color of the table, or
even to create round corners. Use the right mouse button on
a line or a point of your table to
activate the pop up menu.
Q: Can I shorten/cut AnyRail flextrack to fit a space?
A: Yes. It's easy to bend and cut flex track.
Each piece has four 'control points', one at either end,
one at 1/3 and one at 2/3 of the track. They light up
when you hover the mouse over them. To shorten a piece
of flex track, just left-click a control point and drag.
You can also drag the control point onto another piece
of track for automatic connection.
Alternatively, you can use the special functions to create a perfect straight or curve from your flex track.
Q: Where can I find more information
on flex track?
A: Please try our
Flex track tutorial.
Q: How do I disconnect (unlink) track?
A: Hover over the little circle that represents the
connection. When it goes purple and lights up,
press the right mouse button (right-click) and
select 'Disconnect' from the popup menu.
You can also click the right mouse button on the track and select 'Disconnect'.
