Still have to get around to playing with this a bit. On Friday I have the day off, with only a couple house meetings mid-day, so I hope to be able to then give it a full run for its money then Smiley

Hi David.

Further to our off list conversation, I have changed my bookmark and that appears to have resolved the access problem. Anyway, here is my message as requested.

START OF MESSAGE
In my last message I said that I was having several problems.

I have just spent 30 minutes trying to get something going but with
several problems.

1. Turnouts/switches don't function. I.E. direction cannot be changed.
2. Trains automatically reverse (my setting) when they arrive at an
isolating rail.
3. Some switches don't have any controls at all!
4. The train does not necessarily follow the track (see the top train)
on the branch line.
5. The train images themselves appear to be scaled for HO. On Z scale
they take up too much room and may collide (to be checked).

It is quite possible that these have already been addressed as I
haven't had time yet to explore all the help pages etc.

I hope these points help in the integration of TP with AnyRail.
END OF MESSAGE.

I hope this helps as the bounces a real show-stopper.

As you already have the relevant files, I am not appending them here as they are too large.

With best wishes,
Chris.

I have a registered copy of Train Player 3.2 and have just downloaded a copy of AnyRail.

I can export from AnyRail but there is no "import layout" in Train Player.

Hi Graham,

In TrainPlayer 3.2, you should find the import function in the File/Import menu.

That is still happening when you import an AnyRail layout into Trainplayer/Tracklayer. Now let me add something just as annoying - the import table size is always wrong. A 2 x 4 foot N scale layout imports as 12" x 24". This is perhaps the source of Chris's thinking that the train images are twice the size (HO instead of N).

Update Note: This happens no matter what size the AnyRail table is- a table 65" x 84" comes out as being 36" x 3' 2". I'm using demo versions of both programs (sorry, but the budget this close to Christmas is showing no signs of stretching to allow purchase this month). However, I doubt if this should make a difference in this problem.

I've noticed some oddities/omissions in his manuals and tutorials, but this isn't the place to worry about that.

UPDATE NOTE #2: I've found the source of Chris's problem AND mine. Here's the fix-

1) Go through the Tracklayer tutorial about Aligning the grid.

2) Align the grid for the imported layout.

That's it. It corrects my table size error AND Chris's train size problem.

Jeff (my best wishes, too Smiley )

I'll forward these issues to TrainPlayer.

I am going to manfully resist asking if you've ever heard of these newfangled 'Backup' things... Cheesy

Anyway, sorry to hear that. If I was officially part of this particular beta effort, I'd post it on the TP/TL side for you. Now that version 3.2 is out over there, this import function is publicly available and I'd guess others have run uup against it. Is it in the public forums over there?

Hi Peartree.

I guess your last message was in response to the post I withdrew. Yes, I do do regular backups of all my data, but not the C Drive. However, in this case I didn't realise that the registry had corrupted until it was too late. I did have a Restore point for the previous day but that failed. Fortunately all my open source programs worked fine and I am gradually getting the rest sorted, except that I cannot get at my Office 2000 discs. One positive thing that came out of it was that I discovered that I was using an older version of one program for which I had paid for an update - the up date is now installed. I am also very grateful that I keep all the registration data for apps in a separate file which has proved invaluable.

I withdrew my message when I noticed that you had already posted the solution that I was going to look for; didn't seem much point in leaving the message there after that.

All the best,
Chris.
