Dear AnyRail users,

Every now and then, we come across a problem that seems impossible to solve.
Maybe one of you recognizes this and found a solution.

One our (future!) users tries to install AnyRail, and gets the following message:
"System administrator has set policies to prevent this installation"

He's running Windows Vista 64bits.

Several things have been tried to get around this, such as the "Windows Installer Cleanup" (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 ), disabling UAC, changing installation policies, and creating an extra Administrator account and install from there.

Can anyone confirm a successful installation Windows Vista 64?
Does anyone else get the same message?
Has anyone found a (partial) solution to this problem?

Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

This sounds like the user is not allowed to make changes or additions to the registry in the software section - or the user has no rights at all to install whatever software package.

@Sander
Indeed, but he says that he has verified all permissions, and even created an Administrator account and tried to install it from there.

He also says that other software can be installed normally.

It is normal that he can see that he has all permissions. But that are the permissions for him - certain area's where he is not allowed are simply not visible. This is often done with company-laptops. Those machines are installed with an image. To avoid discussions with employees, the 'no permission' is not show - the whole topic is not visible.
When he acts as 'administrator', he is automagically a 'user-level administrator' and not a 'system-level administrator'.

Other issue with installing can be, that he is allowed to install software, but only for a restricted set of certificates. Or installs are restricted to 'company-intranet only'.

Did you check this is a 'normal' Windows install -or- a company-profile install ?

An update:

This user has downloaded version 3.17.0, which installed itself flawlessly.
The installer was built in exactly the same way as the previous one.

The only thing I could think of is a corrupted download of that previous one.

Anyway, problem is not relevant anymore. Thanks a lot for all the help we got!
