Has anyone had a go at trying to develop a helicoidal ramp with AnyRail?

Any tips they could provide? I'm having a particularly hard time getting the ramp to develop enough clearance from one level to the next despite my best efforts. Using Tillig set track the longest track seems to only get about 8cm lower at a 2.5% gradient.

I've got double-decker cars so I need a fairly significant difference in height.

Any help anyone could provide would be most lovely.

Thanks in advance,

I've had the same challenge and have made several different attempts in making the helix work, in HO scale. I have double tracks, the outer ring is 650mm radius and the inner 600mm radius. The inner loop is done at 2.5% gradient and then I change the outer loop to match the inner in height. The best clearance I get is between 9cms and 10cms. I would like more but 3% grad is not really what I want.
One of the options was to make it as a spiral rather than a helix. I've attached the 16cm high spiral.

Thanks Andy, that's definetely an alternative worth considering - and thanks for the AnyRail file with the example. I'll see how I can incorporate it into my design.

I've got two double-track sets to deal with, and both are lowering to different levels - I just love making my life complicated  Grin
