You may be upset with the relative lack of any non-track (i.e. trees, bushes, buildings, bridges, etc.) libraries in AnyRail. If you're willing to do a little work, you can make your own. This will save you a great deal of time and effort on future layout designing. And, if you're feeling generous, you can earn the thanks of everyone who uses AnyRail!

Open a new 'layout'

Use the Line/Surface tool to create your own sets of buildings, bridges, etc.

Use copy & paste to get the images into your current layout job, then resize / reposition / recolor as desired.

That's it!

I use separate files for different types of things (trees and such in one, bridges in another, railroad and non-railroad buildings each have their own file. I'm even making one composed completely of track elements- crossovers, yard ladders, double-track curves, etc.

Now for the 'thanks' bit. If you're really in the market for a warm place in the hearts of other users, please consider SHARING your specialty files. I, for one, would appreciate it a lot! Cheesy

Of course we are constantly adding new stuff to the libraries, both the track libraries and the predefined elements.
(See the miscellaneous menu in AnyRail for that).

In the meantime, you're most welcome to share your own creations, by uploading them on the forum.

One can always copy and paste elements between layouts by starting AnyRail twice. You can load different layouts in each 'instance' of AnyRail, and simply copy and paste between them.

Maybe I am missing something. This great copy-and-paste trick has been posted here before (more than once). What has changed to start this topic ?

I didn't see that info in any post in the Tips & Tricks category. Personally, I think it fits there. if the info has been presented sometime in the past, is it still there? And why wasn't it in this category?

Now you know why I posted it.
