Is there a way to lay parallel track such as a double mainline without having to use the ruler funtion?

Do you mean for flex track or for regular snap track? Because for the latter, the track system usually imposes a fixed distance between the tracks.

Hi David,
It is for flex track (Fleischmann Profi). I have no problems where I use snap track.

Well, if you're creating perfect circular arcs, you can use the 'Curve Flex' tool.
Right click an unconnected piece of flex, select 'Adjust Flex/Curve Flex...'.
Give in the angle and radius of the curve you want.
Repeat on another flex, with another radius of course.
Otherwise, there is no way in AnyRail now to get it exactly right except for a 'visual' check.
If you've any suggestions to make this easier, please let us know. We'd be very happy to solve this issue in an elegant way!

What I could see for parallel track is having some sort of colour warning similar to how its done for overstretched flex track and/or track which is curved beyond the desired minimum radii.
You could have a parallel track option where you determine the desired distance between tracks on straights and curves (you could default those to NEM standards), and then a colour i.e. light green would be dead on, whilst light red would be not so okay.
Otherwise you could just put it as an option which you right click to activate...

How about just right clicking a piece of flex, and have a 'create parallel' option. Then, you can choose to put it at the 'inner' or 'outer' side of the existing flex, and give in a distance.
Press 'OK', and done.
I see two minor problems: an inner parallel flex could get too sharp curves, and an outer one could get too long.

:as well as a single track you could program in a double track into anyrail which would keep the same distance apart when curved.i have seen this another program but can't remember which one.

Thanks for your suggestion. Do you mean that you simply start out with two straight parallel tracks at a certain distance, and work from there?
