Hi All.

Just wanted to post this my longer term plan. It is a fictional terminus set in south Wales (UK) it has 2 mainlines plus a freight line which can be used as a head-shunt coming in from the left. The CL stands for Car loading the P numbers are platforms. The two lines to the bottom right will be used for container loading.

Have a look and let me know what you think. It's all Peco code 75 and I have about half the track already. the plan is to run it around a 180 deg bend in to a fiddle yard, but eventually to have it join to a looped 8 main line.

Thanks for reading!

Looks like a great station!
A few remarks if I may:

-I'd put in a bit more room for platforms for passengers and cargo.
-The CL ends 2 and 5 seem a bit short. Can they hold an engine?
-The double slipswitches might be problematic. I'm not sure about the era you chose, but they might not be very prototypical either. Also, there's no straight line into the CL area now. I'd suggest you leave the one at the right out and replace it with a regular turnout. Trains can decide whether they go for the CL or P area before they enter the station! That might leave you enough room to replace the left hand double slip switch with two turnouts.

Just my 2 cents.

David.

Thanks David.
It's a modern Image around 2003-2004 the shortest platform (5) is 63 inches long or a 5 car Virgin Voyager. the longest platforms will take a scale hst. The Red area is freight with sidings 3-6 for the container terminal and 1&2 general sidings for either passenger or spare stock.

But I've taken on board your comments and removed on of the double slips. I've left one in because I want a min length in the container area of 70 inches (appox 7 flats). the spur at the end of siding 4 is just long enough to take a class 08 shunter. Also I think 3inch gap (it's drawn on a 3 inch square) is plenty wide enough for the platforms so I have left them as they are Wink

Oh it's a bit slow at the moment is everyone on holiday or enjoying 3.5.1  Smiley either way I have made a further addition to the design with longer platforms and a more standard layout. Only it look a bit dull now Sad

Well hello again.

A leak in my garage roof has put a stop to building for the moment. But I have been refining the plan to increase platform lengths and up the number of container flats from 7 to 8. Any head shunt (the bit of track between the crossover and the end of the siding) is designed to only take a (UK) class 08 shunter or similar.
I have also added the mainlines in Red & yellow which I hope to DCC & block control.
take a look and let me know what you think Smiley
