I've been trying to find a suitable layout for my limited space. I live in a small apartment, and the biggest size I can "afford" right now, would be 4'x8'  Sad.
I've just discovered AnyRail and I like it a lot. Playing around a little bit I came to the layout that's attached. It's N-scale, I've used Kato track, and the plan is based on an N-scale Great Northern layout that was in Model Railroader of March 2005. I've tweaked it a little bit, added some track, and rotated it.
This plan calls for a 32"x80" hollow-core door. I think there is enough track for some interesting switching, and enough open space for scenery. Inside the mountain range on the left, the track is climbing to an altitude of 1" at the bridge, then going back down to 0" by the time it reaches the mountain on the top right. It should give me enough room for future expansion.
Any ideas/suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Michel

Hi Michel,

Looks like a layout offering an attractive mix of switching and run interest. I'm certain the end result will be more than satisfying!

Are you going to be going for a rural setting?

Hey Kim, thanks for your quick response!
I'm really looking forward to getting this started (probably not until winter though).
I was thinking a more down-town area in the center and industry by the spurs (not sure which ones though). The main road out of town would go to the right (that's why the "gap" in the mountain for the crossing). On the left, between the mountain and outer track, maybe some rural - meadow/farm land and part being built up.

Cool, well when you start building it, do take some photos and let us know how well your AnyRail drawing compared to the real thing! Smiley
