Hereby my first attempt to create a small HO-scale layout with more possibilities then only circle around. There are two plans attached, with different colours, to show the options I had in mind. I can drive two trains simultaneously or switch to one longer track. I'm grateful for any comment. Dimensions are +- 3 m x 1,5 m.

You have a track, climbing to 7 cm. This track crosses a track at 0 cm altitude. The topside of each track is separated 7 cm, but keep in mind you also need the thickness of the trackbedding plus the table. This will take 1,5 cm (or more). According to the international/European agreements, you need at least 65 mm free space for H0.

I changed the height difference to 8 cm and that will work too.
No comments on the track plan itself?

Hi Erik,

Thanks for posting your plan.

To be honest, it's not the kind of plan that appeals to me, mainly because it has no clear purpose.
There's a station with relatively short tracks, and without a straight pathway for larger trains. They always need to go through a diverting turnout.

Also, there's no possibility to let trains wait a bit before reappearing. A hidden staging yard might be a good idea.

Finally, I think you'll have problems to fit the light brown section into the scenery.

What I do like about the plan is the various way you can run around, with either a single or a double loop to get back into the station.

Maybe you should start trying to make the station a bit longer, maybe diagonally, with at least one straight path through it. Then, think about where you want the rest of the visible track, and recreate the loops with that information in the back of your mind.

For the convenience of other readers, I've attached a picture of the latest plan.

David.
