Hi Henho,

A few comments for now:
I like your station 1. There's one unusual thing though, and that is that the main line (from left to right I suppose) always passes through at least one diverting turnout. I would avoid that, as they do in real life.

Could you explain a bit about the purpose of station 2? Do you want room for 4 short trains? Why are the tracks so short? For about the same cost (and room) you could change it into station 2b.

David.

Hi David

In Thorsø all trains stopped (except some slow coal-trains), so the speed was limited anyway. Thats why I've used the 3way-points here due to lack of space. The turnable is far to big, the real on was only 12 meters i diameter.

The second layout is a replica of Vrads Staion lying in the middle of a forrest, an the one sidetrack was used to load timber onto the waggons. (Vrads Station stills exist to day as a part of a preserved railway)

Se here for info about the Station : http://www.vradsstation.dk/ and the railway : http://www.veteranbanen.dk/
(sorry, only i danish, but there are a few pictures)

Cheers

Henrik

Hi Henrik,

Well, nothing beats the real life example for reality!

I could not really find a railway station in Thorsø, but it seems some of the track is still there:Thorsø. There is track from left to right (just follow the tree line). The station seems to be replaced by a roundabout and some ordinary roads. Did the train follow the road in those days? In a town very close to where I was born, this used to be the case, causing a lot of problems! See the photo with this article for an impression.

And this is Vrads.

In Google Earth, some nice pictures of the station are available. Seems like a lovely example for a model railroad.
