Track-work Inventory

Hi
I'm new to AnyRail, I've been playing with the trial for a couple of days and am going to buy a copy very soon.
Anyway my suggestion is allow the user to build up an inventory of the track-work they own, perhaps allow them to mark whether each item can be reused or if it is part of a layout. Then when you show the list of materials add an extra column which shows the number of new items which are needed to make up the layout.
Perhaps this is very specific to me. I use Kato Unitrack which I can dismantle easily, so I'd quite like to easily see if I have all the track I need. If you're not interested I might even produce a small app myself where I can paste the contents of the materials list and produce a shopping list.
Keep up the good work.

Dave, I do what you suggest by copy-paste the AnyRail material list to a spreadsheet. In the spreadsheet I have my inventory (with prices, where and when bought and such). The spreadsheet does all the calculations.

I've just started using this app today and joined the forum to suggest some sort of cost calculator/track inventory function... this would help show how much an track extension/new layout would cost without having to resort to copy/paste to Excel or other spreadsheet - I appreciate that the cost function may be harder to implement than an inventory but they seem like they would go hand-in-hand with the other.
BTW I'm using Excel for this already but would love it to be built-in!

Using a spreadsheet has some advantages. I bought various rails at different moments and different prices. The spreadsheet can keep track of those purchases and sum the numers and prices per article. So I have the avarage price per railpiece. And I can see what is 'in use' and what is 'free available'.
Next, sometimes I try alternative variants of extensions of a layout. Having the inventory in the AnyRail-file would mean I would have to load each design with my inventory. And I would have to do very complex things to see what is the 'primary track' and what is 'the extension'. A spreadsheet makes this very easy.
