Title: How not to buy too much
Post by: RhB_HJ on March 25, 2013, 02:44:41 AM
After reading quite often how strapped some in the group are .... strapped for space that is  .... I have a suggestion. When attending MRR shows always have a list of what you need. To reinforce your resolve take along your significant other who most likely will tell you that you don't need another of XYZ widget, since you have too many already and not enough space for the extras.

Spoil sport!

Yesterday I had originally planned to go with my other half, but since it was below freezing, blowing a gale and the Malaysean Grand Prix was live on the tele, she decided I could go on my own.
I dutifully took my list with me - but then couldn't get any of the items on the list.
I then came across a complete model of a train I used to catch every 3-4 weeks while I was still working (the Amsterdam-Brussels international train). These models are no longer being manufactured and the price being asked was very reasonable so I jumped at the opportunity. Voila!
Nostalgia rules, OK!

There are plans to manufacture that train again :) - I can't remember if it's LS Models, Hornby Jouef, or Piko but one of those three, I think.

@Kim - you could always attach an audio file to your post - although David might ban them after a while

Doesn't work for me.
I was thinking about buying a HD Cross Bones and suggested to my wife that she go check them at out at one of the dealerships with me. She loved it! Talked me out of the black into the blue, ended up walking out with the bike  8)

Paul- what a waste of money that could have gone to buy trains!

P.s. H-J, Have you ordered the remote control large scale couplers yet?
