Title: Obsessing about rocks
Post by: RhB_HJ on July 13, 2013, 07:33:04 PM
Wellll, I really don't need to, others do already! :) ;) :D ;D
But I need a few more to shore up the mountain side at Muot, probably get them tomorrow.

Some people really find rocks important!

Apparently.

Did you ever catch up to the steam section?

No, the steamer was ready to backing the consist up to the yard as we got to Skagway. Too bad, so sad. And it was raining, too!

Ummm, yes. Rain. The wife picked up a decent little weather-proof camera, last black Friday. It doesn't care about rain.

The problem with those cameras is: sub-par HD and a fixed focus i.e. no zoom. Not my kettle of fish!

I had a good laugh watching the cam-man on Holland-America traipsing through the rain and trying to keep his equipment dry. He wasn't a happy camper!
I just sat inside and read my book; got better footage last year which still needs to be edited.  :o :o :o

Well,it's not multi-thousand dollar camera kit, but it does zoom and has surprisingly flexible exposure control. As opposed to not getting ANY pictures, I think it's pretty good :-)

"A few more"??? I hate to guess, but my bet is when you need "a few more", Mt. Rainier is about to become the Rainier Plain.

True, but I just hate Photoshoping all the raindrops in the pictures.  ::) :o ::)

I know no one will believe this, but HJ only wants you to think he lives in British Columbia - actually, he lives in Manitoba which he's trying to transform into a scale model of British Columbia.

That would be 1:1 scale, would it?

Manitoba? Oh no, that's a good place to be from, no more than that. Cold as Hell in winter, warm enough in the summer for Winnipeg to be the mosquito capital of Canada - in the summer they have fog alerts when they spray against the mozzies. Not to mention the regular flooding problems.

As they in Alaska, the mosquito is the state bird!

It was a pleasant surprise, in the Yukon and in Alaska I only had to smack one mosquito. It was blowing in the Yukon and raining (big time) in Alaska. The mosquitoes and black flies didn't feel like flying.

... Cold as Hell in winter....

You want to rethink that one?  ??? :)

(Actually, I picked Manitoba for the pancake terrain, not the climate.)

I don't move heaven and earth .... I move rocks and earth. Building yet another mountain side ... errr at least the part that is really close to the railway line and doesn't go to/reach the sky.
