Title: Editing User Objects
Post by: Bob Bryce on April 28, 2018, 04:10:46 PM
I am creating user objects to use in an electrical library so I can document on my layout everywhere a wire is soldered to the tracks and the wire size, it's voltage and wire color.  After creating many objects, I forgot to indicate the voltage, and now need to revise 12 objects, but do not want to use a different name or revise the details, only change the object.

I find there is an easy way to edit the details for an existing User Object, but not to edit the object itself.  Currently, as I know how to do this, you must call up the object itself, modify the object, then save it as a User Object all over again, entering all the detail data all over again.  This is not cumbersome for one object, but it is for a lot of objects.  Also, you need to remember or write down the details if you want them all to be the same as the existing one.  Then, you wind up with two of the same object names unless you call it something else and have to delete one.

Could there be a way to open the User library, right click on the object like you currently do to edit the details, but have a second selection available to just edit the object itself (Edit Details and Edit Object), then after you change and save the object, you wind up with the new object, the same name, the same details and no additional entry in the library?

No, that last function is not available, but it seems like a good idea!

Hi David, hope this request has not hit the cut floor?
