Title: Helix Designs
Post by: RedDingo on January 12, 2021, 12:44:53 PM
I tried doing a search but nothing came up, can everyone post their Helix designs here?
I'm specifically trying to work out a 2 track main servicing 2 or 3 levels but able to traverse any direction at any time with 2 or more directions per level  :-\

Hi RedDingo,
if you search for MAKING a HELIX, after you check the space that you want your Helix to fit - on adding the measurements  you need 2% rise or less, as you lose something like 50% in the rise on the CURVEs.
Depending on what SCALE your working in
HO = 3mm per Foot
Needing 1.2mtrs
a picture of your SPACE would be handy
more questions latrer no doubt, but HELP is here waiting

I've been adding a "Helix" layer and putting the track on that.
(1) Make a full circle minus 1 piece (using Unitrack)
(2) Copy and make each copy a different height
(3) Hook them together
(4) Smooth the slope from top to bottom

Don't know if this is best or easiest. But it's what I did :)
