I'm not sure what I did to the 3D view, but I can no longer get what used to be a decent looking display with ground color, tunnels, etc. Now I just get this, how to I beat this into submission. The 2D view works fine and all the design features work. I don't know what I could have changed to nuke all the 3D settings.

You've probably unticked 'Ground' in the 3D Viewer.
