There are two types of grid, and perhaps you have both enabled with dissimilar settings.

There is a visual grid, in the settings just to the right of the work area setting.  Then there is another grid for "snap-to" operations with lines, etc, at the extreme right of the settings options.  I generally only use the right-hand one and leave the other deselected.

OK, new here, new to CAD. Told that AnyRail best way to go for what I have in mind. I have been unable to download the app to my Dell desk top with updated Windows 10. Went over here to my work lap top, and it downloaded in minutes.

Having seen various tutorials about using AnyRail, I cannot find nor open that first page that allows one to enter one's specifics.

In point of fact, I was unable to locate where to start a thread, and so landed on this thread by mistake, but it is the first time I was able to open anything on this website.

I am not a computer genius, but but rarely have encountered this trouble before. Anyone?

Hello and welcome to AnyRail. Let's see if I understand your problems:
QuoteI have been unable to download the app to my Dell desk top with updated Windows 10.
What is the error message you get? Perhaps you have a setting to not allow downloads of apps from the Internet. Many corporations have that as defaults.
QuoteI cannot find nor open that first page that allows one to enter one's specifics.
I assume you mean in AnyRail? An empty canvas should pop up when you start AnyRail for the first time. You can also go to AnyRail's File menu and select New. That should give you a first empty canvas.

I assume you are now talking about the AnyRail Discussion Forums? You cannot create a top level topic; that would be chaos. But you can select any top level topic and post in there. Once you go into a top level topic, you will see a New Topic button.
