Sometimes I like to add notes to my layout designs. Adding text to the plan itself is fine for brief notes but not so convenient for longer notes.

Under File/Info, a list of materials, sections and labels is available. Adding a section here for typing in notes would be useful.

This would be a great feature!  I can see several uses for this, especially like keeping track of wiring schemes, power routing, signal routing, etc.  Great to be able to write up notes or comments in a text window and keep them with the layout file instead of putting them on the plan in a layer.

Thanks Bob! (Sorry I don't check this forum often, so I've only just seen your post.)

I like to add notes such as where I got ideas for the plan, as I like taking an existing design and seeing how it would look with modifications, also web links to photos and pages of prototypes that influenced the design. It's handy also to  add notes where there are several variations of a design and it gets a bit clunky adding random text over the drawing.

This will be added in version 7. However, we're still working on that version, so please be patient!

One possible solution is to use multiple layers for different kinds of notes.  For example, I use a layer for descriptive text for some parts, another layer to help identify block assignments, and two more for baseboard panels and dimensions.  It becomes easy to have a view showing just the information needed (for printing, for example) without showing everything together.

Thanks. I use layers quite a lot. I've just tried it and while I was I remembered Shift-Enter and Ctrl-Enter give a new line without closing the text box. So long as I remember not to press just Enter I can add text to different lines. Creating a text box with multiple blank lines might be a convenient way to edit blocks of text.

Yes, I do that quite often.  You can also paste a block of text that you've copied from somewhere else if you need.
