Hi Musicnut,

First, I don't know much about HO scale.

Second, Trainplayer is a wonderful way to discover the operating quirks of your layout. The link from Anyrail to Trainplayer is easy and quick.

Observations first.

I see a classification yard on the left, with a Through track, an Arrival/Departure track, lots of storage and an engine service area. All pretty normal.

I see an industrial area in the middle that can be served by either an East or West bound train. The Wye is useful to change the direction of locomotives. I would think about making the industry spurs long enough for two or three freight cars. It takes time to unload a freight car. You place full cars and remove empty cars. Partially empty cars stay in place.

Lastly, the "universal industry" is an interchange. Your industries need raw material coming in. In addition, they finished products going out. An interchange is just another spur for your freight engineers to deal with.

Hi Musicnut,

First, when you get all the tracks connected, you will discover a return loop that you will have to deal with electrically.

Second, if you reverse the 553 Country Club switch, you will give yourself a slightly harder shunting problem. Try it in TrainPlayer first.

Third, I looked at the Bensenville, IL industrial trackage and wondered what they make.

Hi Chaz
none of the buildings have train service anymore. When I was a firefighter for B ville there was different companies over the years. all these buildings had boxcars when there was train service. the 2 buildings at the end received the most with 12 cars for foster and 16 on the 2 tracks for the other building. the other 3 received 1 and 2 cars. if you look again you will see there is only 2 places getting train service these days in the industry. and yes i will be adding station 2 . I have too
