This update for AnyRail has the following new track libraries:
- H0 Shinohara Code 100
- H0n3 Shinohara Code 70
- 00 Hornby Dublo 3-rail
- TT Kuehn Modell

Updated libraries:
- N Atlas Code 55
- H0 Tomix Wide Tram Track
- I Märklin
- H0 Bachmann E-Z Track (new turntable)

* The zoom functionality has been extended so now you can zoom in beyond 1:1 to work on the details!
* Vertical docking of libraries is now supported for all you wide screen monitor users.
* Direction arrows can be set on all track elements.
* Glue function is improved. Little glue pots are displayed on each glued element. Glue for track no longer 'spreads'. Glue now prevents flex track from being altered.
* Font face and font size can be set for rulers. Also, scale rulers have been introduced.

- A crash in the 'export as image' dialog box has been fixed.

Special thanks go to ScaleLink in the UK. They have kindly provided us with all the details necessary to accurately represent the Shinohara track. They stock virtually all current Shinohara track and are a great resource for UK and European modellers. Their website is: www.scalelink.co.uk.

Another 'thank you' goes to Märklin for providing us with the details for the I gauge track (Spur 1).

I hope there's something in there for everyone!

David.

Version 4.15.2 solves a problem with too large part numbers and too wide grid lines.
Version 4.15.3 solves a problem with too dark grid lines when zooming out as discussed below.

Hello, David:

Thank you for the new 4.15 version. I enjoyed working with it, and shortly I will have a lot of new items to post to share with other users in the Share section.

Meanwhile, I wondered if the 1/64 snap to grid was included in this version. When I put 1/64 into the box all the fractional lines disappear at ALL zoom levels.

Another idea, or request. At this time the fractional lines for various settings, such as 1/32, 1/16, 1/8 disappear at various points. Personally, I like the idea that they disappear when unusable. However, currently I believe that they disappear too early. They could stand being visible for one more zoom out, or perhaps at different zoom outs.

If the 1/64 is not available, I understand. I would like it, though.

Thanks for what we have received. It is "slick." Much appreciated.

The 'snap to' grid lines disappear when there are less than 6 pixels between them. This is to avoid a blue blur.
As a consequence, on most current monitors, the 'snap to' grid does not show even when zooming in.
It should be functional though.

Thanks David,

The plain ruler (no arrows) should work for me - if I can find the highlight spot. ;)
Like the x:1 feature, makes the nitty gritty a lot easier.

Hello, David:

In version 4.15, the following is the current behavior of the snap-to grid:

With snap set on 1/32" - when zooming from 3:1 to 2:1 the "fine" grid disappears.
With snap set on 1/16" - when zooming from 2:1 to 1:1 the "fine" grid disappears.
With snap set on 1/8" -  when zooming from 1:1 to 1:2 the "fine" grid disappears.
With snap set on 1/4" -  when zooming from 1:3 to 1:4 the "fine" grid disappears.
With snap set on 1/2" -  when zooming from 1:6 to 1:8 the "fine" grid disappears.

I would like to suggest that rather than have the "fine" grid disappear all together, that the snap-to grid automatically "step down".  That is to say:

With snap set on 1/32" - when zooming from 3:1 to 2:1 the "fine" grid retains 1/32" setting, but displays at 1/16".
With snap set on 1/32" - when zooming from 2:1 to 1:1 the "fine" grid retains 1/32" setting, but displays at 1/8".
With snap set on 1/32" - when zooming from 1:1 to 1:2 the "fine" grid retains 1/32" setting, but displays at 1/4".
With snap set on 1/32" - when zooming from 1:3 to 1:4 the "fine" grid retains 1/32" setting, but displays at 1/2".
With snap set on 1/32" - when zooming from 1:6 to 1:8 the "fine" grid retains 1/32" setting, but disappears.

Is there any reasonable way to make these smoothly change like that? It would be a GREAT time saver as I am constantly changing from one snap-to setting to another and then right back.

And, because I don't know when to quit, I'd also like to see snap-to with 1/64" and a zoom of 5:1, too. You know me. Ask and see if you receive.

Thank you.

That's what we actually had before. And something similar for metric.

Some found that confusing, and preferred to have no gridlines at all when zoomed out.

Drives me crazy when I lose my lines. REALLY slows down the work.

How about a check box for "Continuous scaling of snap-to lines."

True, I've worked with the 'snap to' grid for a couple of hours now, and it was better before.

I'll see if it can be revived.

Thank you for considering it. How about that 1/64" and 5:1 zoom, as well? It will make a difference on the small models I am making. Lots of tiny details.

Hi, I have a problem with the way the grid appears which was not there before.

I am working on quite a large layout and have the grid shown with a snap to of 0.5inches.

Problem, the line density/thickness has increased such that the lines are so dominant that I appear to be looking at the plans through a dense net and even at 1:10 is impossible to see detail properly and absolutely hopeless when I zoom out to 1:30 to pan around the layout.

There is also a significant amount of what I believe is called aliasing occurring which blurs the lines.

I am working on a laptop using Win 7, using its recommende resolution of 1600x900 pixels.

Help please, Jim

David

Hi Jim,

Did you update to version 4.15.2? This issue should be fixed between 4.15.1 and 4.15.2.

Hi David, this happened after I upgraded about 30 mins ago to V4.15.2EN from probably V4.14EN, regards Jim

David

Jim, I think the problem lies with the black lines of the normal grid, not the 'snap to' grid, is that correct?

David.

Hi, the density and appearence of the grid set from the "ribbon-> settings->work area -> grid" is fine and appears to be unchanged.

Before the latest update I was working with that set to 12 inches and the "ribbon-> settings->behaviour -> snap to grid" set to 0.5 inches and enabled.

In this way the first 'grid' appeared dominant relative to the 'snap to grid' grid which was always lighter, just like graph paper having major x,y lines representing ten divisions with the unit divisons a lighter colour.

Now the "snap to grid" is far too heavy and swamps the display, is the blurring caused by one over the other ?

Jim

David

@Jim: Version 4.15.3 should solve the problem.
