"freezing", not gluing track

I am trying to use straight pieces of flex track. When I attach another piece of flex track and curve the new piece, it also curves my "straight" flex track. I can prevent this by Gluing the straight track, but this fixes the group of track pieces to the baseboard. I would like to move and rotate a "group" without having to unglue and reglue before I add more flex track.

Is there a way to "freeze" the size and shape of a length of track without gluing it? (It might also be useful to be able to freeze shaped flex track too.)

Jeff

Sorry, but no, there is no way to selectively Glue pieces individually. The kind of 'group flex' you see was brought in after living with the alternative for some years. I know it may seem to be a problem, but most of us with a lot of experience with the program tend to use the 'Curve flex' tool to shape corners. Not that you can't do it freehand, but if you do, learn to leave the control handle leading to the attached end alone. That will preserve the shape and placement of the previously placed track.

Graeme,

The easy way to circumvent this problem: attach the piece of straight flex, the disconnect it and bend the opposite end of the flex piece to where you want it. Next reconnect the point you disconnected. Works very well, but needs a bit of practice for "nice bends"; I use it mostly to connect last point in a ladder to the tangent track.

Well, HJ, I tend to use that 'shift-drop' technique I put in tips. I drop the piece of straight flex next to the end of the ladder, leaving a little overlap, then bend the end in and let it connect. Works well for me. And yes, it all takes a little practice to see just how much overlap works best.

First of all my apologies. I think I posted my question in the wrong section - it's my problem, not a problem with AnyRail.  :)

Thanks, I think I understand the various solutions/workarounds.
