Today we released version 5.1 of AnyRail!

Major highlights:
-   Better handling of libraries by nesting and sizing them.
-   Full Unicode support (perhaps not so interesting in Western Europe or the USA).
-   Introduction of user objects. Items that users can share amongst themselves.
-   3D export, albeit very basic at this stage. You can view the export in Google SketchUp or any other program accepting Collada.
-   Rotating made much easier using a handle.
-   Much easier handling of layers.

The upgrade is free for anyone having a license for version 4 (bought after March 10, 2010).
For users having a license for version 2 or 3, we offer an upgrade license at a 50% discount. Use the link that you can find on the buy page for your language version.

Have fun!

David.

5.1.1 Fixes opening Help from the File tab. Fixes problems with some older license keys.
5.1.2 Creates a backup of your V3 or V4 style file so you cannot accidentally lose it when trying out AnyRail 5.
5.1.3 Solves an annoying crash reported by some customers after about 3-5 minutes into the program.

Thank you, David, but oh dear - my first problem!
If I start V5 and then go to >File >Help >Support Help, I get the help file displayed but then cannot close it again without completely closing the program.

(Running Anyrail5EN under Windows XP/SP3)
Sorry.......

Thanks for notifying me of that bug! I will look into it shortly.

Perhaps in the meantime you can use the little question mark in the right upper corner to open the Help?

thanks David
will be purchasing when funds allow
each update is certainly worth the $
and the way licensing covers multi-upgrades is more than fair!
thanks for your work
and for AR

Like the new features!! Program says "trial version" - Tried to paste the r3-4 product key into the registration window and it keeps saying not registered? - Russ

Russ, it sounds like you have license for all versions 3 through 4
but with version 5 you will need to upgrade your license as explained by David
and if i remember correctly, the update for version 5 for owners of versions 3 and 4
is at a discount.
Peace,
Gary

Thanks Gary-All Fixed! That's why I need to check the forum more often! (fyi - the Shadyside and Southwestern drawing on the home page is one of mine!) - Russ

Russ
You're welcome! And the Shadyside and Southwestern is a nicely designed RR.
Kudos on that design!

Thanks David for your wonderful job, and  your invlvement to achieve  the best for us!
I just tested this new v5.12: a few remarks
1- rotating objects is a real pleasure now! :-*
2- new layers display: OK but I find the last column (delete layer) too invasive and dangerous:
-- it takes permanant space over the current sketch, even if we rarely delete layers...
--It is now too much easy (dangerous) to click by inadvertance to this command :-[
Personaly I would have prefered:
--a rigth-click on the involved line to delete a layer.(contextual delete) ;)
--and/or a deported command within the already top 'add layer' space.(deleting the selected layer)
Any of these option would solve the double objections above...
3-I am eager to look at the 3D output possibility...
Anyway Thanks David, point 1 and 2 are just my personal opinion...
NB: I answered your question in my previous post regarding user XY -cordinates and user-origin... :)
Sincerely.
