I installed v5.2 today and I'm not sure if its a bug, auto-save, or what, but anything i open gets a new file format style with what appears to be a time stamp.  if this is not a bug, I don't need multiple versions of the same file.  in some cases I have 1 file renamed and formatted 12x!!  that's overboard.

AnyRail makes a backup file in case you open an AR4 file with AR5.

This is to prevent problems when you overwrite your files with AR5 while only having a license for AR4. Once overwritten with AR5, a file can no longer be opened in AR4.

I admit that this can cause confusion, and we're working on a better solution.

Roger that David, thanks for the info.

I'm not sure what kinda of work it would take, but what about asking when its opened for the first time to have a popup window to 1) keep a copy and convert or 2)just convert and remove old copy?

In version 5.3, only one copy is made, and stored in the Autosave directory.
