trying to print 1:1

Hello
Can you help here David please.
I'm trying to printout a section of my plan at full size ie 1:1.
I can select the section I want, go through the ready to print process asking it to pre-view and see that it will need 10 pages to complete at 1:1.
Then as soon as I say PRINT my screen reverts to the section I copied and prints it out at the scale I copied it from ie 1:12.  It seems I need to tell it what scale I need via the menus showing with the drawing as every time I try to change scale through the printer menu in ANYRAIL it falls back to my orignal track plan scale of 1:12.

For my convenience I print some pages out at 1:6 but I can only do this if I change the scale using the menu which you see when you click on the drawing plan.
I've tried to select individual pages to print out when scaled at 1:1 but I can not select them either?
What am I not doing correctly?

I am using the free version.

Hi, Barnaby. Try this:

In the 'Home' tab, make the selection you want to print
Go to the 'File' > 'Print' tab.
Select portrait or landscape paper
Select 'selection' (the selection should appear in the preview)
Select 'Ratio' and then select 1:1 (the preview should now tell you how many pages are required)
Select 'alignment markers' and/or 'date/time' as required
Then select 'Print' and the selection should be printed at the scale you want.
(this certainly works for the licensed version, and I don't think there's any difference for the free one).

Have fun!

I think that's much what I have been doing but it keeps resetting to the normal view scale I have it set to.  The only bit I struggle with is the "selection" section as it stays greyed out for me.
I will follow exactly your instructions and let you know.

Thanks
Best regards

You have to have made the selection before you enter the >file>print tab.
If no selection has been made, then the 'print selection' stays greyed out.

Barnaby

AHHHHH that might be it I'll try it again.

Nope; yes it lets me select then tells me it will print out the 10 pages I want but as soon as I say print it prints the selection I made at the scale I copied it ie 1:12 even though I said 1:1 folowing your instructions.
The only way I can copy enlarged is if I increase the plan size scale.  Using the scaler in the print section don't work for me.

Must be doing something wrong still or the FREE version don't allow full size printing?

Going out now with the wife for a meal so I'll have another look tomorrow.

Thanks for now.

PS anyone got any ideas.

Barnaby

Ok this is what happens.
I can make a selection of the track I want printing @ 1:1.
To get it to print out at that scale I have to use the - or + signs near the scale slider bottom right of the screen make a selection and tell it to print page range it will then print out at the 1:1 scale.
CHOOSING THE SCALE IN ANY OTHER WAY WILL NOT GIVE ME 1:1 PRINTOUTS.

Does anybody know why?

David

Hi Barnaby,

You are using version 5.3.1 of AnyRail, right?
I've just retried, and it seems to work fine.
The steps I take are:
1. Select track/objects in the track plan that you want to print. Selected elements get a green outline
2. Open the File tab, and click Print
3. Set the print scale to 1:1 in the print pane
4. Select 'Selection' in the print pane
5. Click the Print button
6. The program reverts to its normal view (whatever you had) with the Home tab open (perhaps this confuses you?), while the selection is printed to scale 1:1

At which step does the program behave differently for you?

I'll follow those steps exactly David and report back.
Yes I can see the image reverts to its normal view but for me it prints out like that too.
As I have said the only way it works for me is if I use the controls for scale at the bottom right of my display page, settting the scale anywhere else only prints out the normal view selection.
But ........................ I'm off to try exactly as you have said so we'll see.

Regards and thanks

Ok David here are my results.
It still goes wrong.
I am using Ver 5.3.1
Following your steps I get:-
1/  green outline OK
2/  click print OK
3/  1:1 in print pane OK
4/  slection made in print pane OK [this shows a reduced numper of pages to be printed, 10 in my case in the tool bar @ the top of the drawing page, it is some 45 pages to print the whole layout @ 1:1]
5/  print pressed OK
6/  It says it is to print the 10 pages but only prints 1 at the normal view of the green selection.
THE ONLY WAY I CAN GET IT TO PRINT @ 1:1 IS TO USE THE SCALE SLIDER - & + BUTTONS, then it works

Thanks

Barnaby

Hello again David
following your steps again this is what I have to do.
I need to reverse your steps 2 & 3, I also have to select the scale from the scale slider bar - & + as selecting the scale in any other way wont work.
Then I follow your remaining steps to get my 1:1 pages printed.
Odd it is as following your steps it says it will print the 10 pages greened out but only prints the normal greened out view but when making the scale selection as I have said it does it as it should.

Hi Barnaby,

Alright then, let's test if it's your printer acting strange...
Could you please install CutePDF (http://www.cutepdf.com/)?
This little piece of software acts as a printer, with a PDF file as a result.

Could you please try to print to a PDF instead of your real printer, and see if that works as it should?

Hello David

No it still fails both with "Cute" & my Adobe PDF software.
It says it will save the pages @ 1:1 but only saves it a normal.
I'll try setting the scale with the silder controls to see if they work as I have said before.

Regards
PS I've attached the Cute PDF file.

David

Hi Barnaby,

I'm very surprised! Could you please post your anyrail file? (With the '.any' extension).
