Be this a four track main? In Canada, no less? ;-)

Could not resist! :-D

Hope everyone is well and getting ready for the holidays.

Looking forward to my under the tree layout and hopefully getting back to planning my more permanent bedroom railroad come the New Year.

sincerely,

Yeah, yeah probably somewhere in Burlington, Ont where the two track Main from Hamilton, Ont runs beside the two track main coming from London, Ont.  Lots of traffic along there and a lot of industries to be switched on the North- and Southside of the Main. That's why it is four tracks. But the section in the picture looks pretty close to Bayview Junction. :-\ :-\

HJ...just really liked finding some outside of Pennsylvania! And some that is still operational. As far as I know most if not all 4 track mainline has been reduced and removed by Conrail and Norfolk Southern...even in Altoona! Go figure.
Hope you are having a wonderful holiday season.
All my best as alway!
Peace,

There are quite a few examples that look like 4 track mains but are used in different manner. I even know one or two in Switzerland e.g

46°57'13.60" N   7°26'31.37" E  and then zoom in to have a look at all the pictures

47°30'17.01" N   8°43'56.83" E is another one, same scenario.

BTW what is the caption for the picture you linked?

HJ...super sites to research, thanks for the coordinates! will give a closer look when we arrive back home. in  Kentucky for funeral for Mary's mom.
the write up with the photo i posted was this:
Bye bye CN Ultratrain. With Ultramar opening a new pipeline between Lévis (near Quebec City) and Montreal, CN's Ultratrain (composed of TankTrain cars) will not see daily service between these two points, beginning in mid-January. They were a common sight for Quebec railfans. Here an empty train heads back east through Montreal West in August 2007. Photo by Michael Berry.

it is from Canadian Railway Observations (CRO) on Facebook.

Peace,
Gary
