I don't know if this is related to the issue discussed in the other thread.  I recently upgraded from 4.26 to 5.3.1 and running it on a Windows XP SP3 system.  I have a Celeron D 3.2 processor, 2 gig RAM and an Radeon X550 video.

When I want to open a file it takes from 20 to 25 seconds for the file to load.  Is it me, XP or does 5.3.1 require more memory?

Is the file on a network share or on a local disk?

Hi David, it's on a local disk.  I have a i5 laptop with Windows 7 but the LCD is messed up but I can still use it by hooking up to an external monitor.  I hooked it up and downloaded and installed 5.3.1 on it and it loads a file relatively fast so I'm guessing it's my system or XP.

I forgot to mention I did clean up the registry and also got rid of orphaned files from programs and it still didn't make a difference.

We've had one or two complaints about the startup time on Windows XP.
Also, on XP, loading a file from a network disk might take some time.

All this is due to the fact that we use a new compiler that really speeds up our development cycle and can make use of the facilities of newer CPU's.
Unfortunately, it seems that this has some side effects on some of the older XP computers.

Thanks David.  I have tried some tweaking of XP but to no avail.  I guess it's time to build a new system.

@poppy2201: We have made some changes to the software that hopefully resolve the startup issue.
Would you be willing to test for us?
If so, please drop us an email and I'll give you the link to the latest development version.

Hi David,
Long time since I've been here. I am also having problems with 5.3.1 on my XP system. When I try to copy a piece of track the program closes as an application but continue to runs in the background as a process.
Have tried with right click mouse, "ctrl-C" and from the clipboard icon. The program closes every time.

Andrew

@Andrew: what processor are you using exactly?
I ask because we've switched on some optimizations that should be available on all CPU's that support XP, but perhaps we made a mistake.

@Andrew: would you be able to test a pre-release version to see if the copy/paste problem has been resolved?
