Scalextric Connection Bug (Sorta)

If you recall our discussion on adding "Modded" pieces of track to turn a regular piece into a single lane piece, quite common in this model world, but held off until a later date.  Until then, I've been using "Full Pieces" and just connecting up one of the rails to "simulate" a single lane but ran into a snafu.

If I try to connect a Pit Lane Turn Out C7015O, Pit Lane (Right) to the outside lane of a R1 Turn, they won't lock up.  If I try to connect the Inside turn of an R2 piece to the same Pit Lane, they won't lock up.  (see attached screen shot).

Now I know this is using the "full" piece in an awkward manner until we can add modded pieces, but, is this something you would expect to happen?
