Problem with Object Snap.

I have noticed that if an object is created using lines and then grouped the object it will snap OK on the grid setting you used to make the object, but if you change the grid setting to something other size, the object retains the original grid snap and will not snap to the new grid size.

I have 50+ objects that I need to adjust on my layout and use the new grid size.

I used a 1/8" grid and want to go to a 1/4" grid.  Yes I know this is small but the objects are the bench work and I need to know the actual Dims. of each section.

I've just tested, and it seems to work.

The object always snaps to the left top of the 'bounding rectangle' of the whole element.

An object will not resize.

Perhaps that causes the confusion?

I forgot to mention that the objects in question are at angles.  The ones I am trying to move is a 3.5" x 1/5" rectangle at 22.5 degrees.  Should I take the snap off and just eye ball it?
The other object is a 19" x 3.5" trapezoid with 22.5 Deg ends. Also need the same with 45 degree ends.

This is Knee Wall Framing for the layout.

Indeed, with items at an angle, the snap function might be unhelpful. The object will snap to the left top corner of the smallest rectangle that fits around it, while the rectangle is aligned along the x and y axis, so like the selection box when you select it.
It might be more useful if one could designate one point in the object to be the 'snap point', but currently that's not possible.
