Hi Paul,

Sweet.  Now you know where all the little bits go.

The white border around that picture created the size problem. AnyRail can deal with it, but you still have the white border. I use the Windows Snipping Tool to grab images without the borders. It's probably already on your computer.

Thanks again for all the help and info Chaz,

I'll clip that white border out. ;)

AnyRail is fantastic :)

That is really sweet.

Thanks MrSax!

I really like that little Hornby layout, and it will fit in the space I have.

I can afford to make it slightly longer, about 1.5ft, but the more I look at it, the more I'm tempted to just build it as designed.

Cheers

Paul :)

Hey Paul,

When I travel, I make notes of places with a rail heritage. After I get home, I want to add those places to my library of places that I might model. I snip images from Google Earth for the modern tracks and I use the USGS Topographical maps for historical tracks. The 24000 scale shows all the tracks.

Llano TX, is the western terminus of the Austin and Northwestern Railway, which, like most US railroads, has gone through several re-organizations and owners. It's practically abandoned now. Some of the industries were wood ties, granite block, cotton bales, farm to market produce, grain, livestock, lime products and a daily passenger train to/from Austin, TX. I like it because it's small, simple and diverse.

I wrote this a few years ago. http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/7197 It's based upon my personal research and this pamphlet by Lester Haines. "Journal of Texas Shortline Railroads and Transportation", Vol 3, Num 2, by Lester Haines, 1988.

Thanks again Chaz,

Some great info there that I will research. Really interesting. Thank you for that.

I'd like to make that basic Hornby layout 'my own' with a few touches of my local area.

All the best for 2018

Cheers
Paul
