Rokuhan Shorty Movies

I received my Shorty shells from Shapeway today. The fit is really good. I don't have the software or the skills to create detailed models. Besides, I'm going to use colored chalk instead of paints.

These movies are up in the cloud.

Butte, Anaconda & Pacific movie. These will be dusted with red, brown, yellow and black chalk to make them look old and rusty.

Australian Tin Hare. I will trim these with bright yellow. The roofs will be silver.

Denver, South Park & Pacific narrow gauge. These will be trimmed in dark green, ala the Chicago Northwestern.

I decorated my version of a stock car, using ink pads. I used brown on the front and sides, followed by green on the top and finally a light dusting of black on the top.

Total time was less then 3 minutes, start to finish.

The fun part is designing the Shorty shells and decorating them. Frankly, I'm not very good at either.

A friend in Australia wants a Shorty layout in a 16"x20" picture frame because it is the largest commonly found picture frame and you get four 16"x20" pieces from a standard 32"x40" sheet of foam core board. He wants a twice around that is simple and easy.

I created this 11"x14" Rokuhan Shorty layout to test small radius (45mm radius) curves. The layout is called "The Prime-evil, Forbidden Forest" because of our skill at making trees. I designed the shells that slip over the Rokuhan Shorty's and, had them printed them at Shapeways. My 7-year old grandson helped make the trees and color the cars. It will be his first layout when I am done with it. The link is to another video.

My 7-year old grandson and I made some trees for the enchanted forest, after the hurricane. This shell is 3D printed in Full Color Sandstone. It weighs 7 grams, which is a significant weight for the 8 gram Rokuhan Shorty power unit.
