Line lengths or ruler shaping

Hi
I have a layer using "lines" showing how each power district is routed, but unlike the "ruler" there is no way to determine end to end length. If I use "ruler" I can only make straight lines.
This would be very helpful when determining how much wire I need for any kind of wiring such as sensors.
Individual line lengths could be shown down below like for rulers OR allow to "add points" to a ruler to allow shaping.

Thanks

1.  Draw a line.
2.  Click on one control point
3.  Move cursor to other control point
4.  At the bottom toolbar you will see the length of that line.

When you hover a line, you'll see the segment length and the overall length on the status bar, e.g. 34/114.
The overall length is the length of all the line segments combined.
