This plan is an HO adaptation of a layout I built in N scale back in 1986. The original fit into a corner of the living room in an area of about 5x5. As shown, there isn't much industry on the line. In 1986, N scale locomotives weren't of sufficient quality to make alot of switching practical so the emphasis was on the mainline run. Given the limits of the motive power, this railroad ran well.

As adapted to HO, the minimum radius is 20" and grades were kept to 3% or less. Switches are mostly Atlas 4s.Were I to build this layout, I'd handlay the track using #6s built to FastTracks specs, and add a few industries and some staging tracks.
