Peco SL-U1189 length incorrect?

The length of the Peco SL-U1188/SL-U1189 code 75 bullhead turnout in Anyrail is 257mm, but in reality and according to the Peco track plan it is 259mm. Is this an error or is it deliberately drawn slightly shorter in Anyrail? If it is deliberate, what is the reason for this?

2mm does not sound much, but if there are five turns across a section of layout, that is a 1cm positional error on the plan. And sadly I printed it all out before noticing this discrepancy.

David

When we first added this track to AnyRail, we used a printed sheet as our source. It has top-down pictures of the track elements. These are not as precise as the PDF templates.
I think it was never noticed before as, like you say, for just one turnout the error is small. In your situation the errors accumulate.

We'll update the turnouts in the next update. I'm sorry for the trouble.

Thank you, David. No problem, these things happen. It's how you respond to them that counts.

Hi David

Are you able to tell me roughly when the next update is likely to be, please?
Days away, weeks away, months away?

I need to make a decision whether to wait for the update or move ahead and print out a new layout plan with the 2mm discrepency.

Cheers
Bob

David

Probably two weeks or so. We want to combine this with another update.

Did the length of the PECO SL-U1188/9 get updated to 259mm in the latest V6.56.0 release? I guess not because it is still showing as 257mm.

David

Yes, it's updated. But indeed, it seems the description is not unfortunately.

Bob Fuller

OK, thank you, I will ignore the description.

David

We'll fix the description in the next update.
