It's been a while since I used any User Objects or uploaded one, but today I downloaded the latest version, tried to access User Objects and none are there.  I seem to have lost all of the user objects including my own.  Any idea what happened and how to get them back???

David

I've moved this topic to 'Problems'.

First, could you please check where AnyRail thinks it can find the user objects?
To do so, please open the FILE tab, choose Options, and open the 'User objects' tab.
Now, in the Windows Explorer, please go to the folder displayed there.
The default location is :
C:\Users\<YourName>\AppData\Local\AnyRail\UdoRepos500\

Please see if there any files there. Normally, there are folders for each scale, and then folders per manufacturer. In these folders, you should find files with extension ".sudro".

Yes, they are there, including 2 objects that I created yesterday, but all of the custom objects I made and were stored under the "Bryce" folder are now gone. Its like the entire set of User Objects has been restored to the "default".  Let me look on my backup thumb drives and see if they are there.

David

In the past, did you ever change the default user objects folder?

No, but I did change computers due to a hard disk problem.  Thought I had loaded everything from a backup disk to the new computer, didn't realize the User objects were not stored in the place where I thought they were.  Today I bought a portable hard disk case and moved the failing drive to the portable case, connected it to the new computer as an external hard drive, and the missing directory was there.  Copied it to the new computer and recovered the missing objects in my directory.  Now I need to see what other objects are missing and move them.

The hard drive that failed had developed a bad sector, but the bad sector contained one of the startup files and the computer would not boot.  Recovery of everything has proven to be more of a challenge than I thought.

Thanks for the help, hope I can take it from here.

David

Good to hear that you recovered at least some of the objects!
Please note that downloaded objects have the extension ".sudro", and your personal objects have extension ".udro".
