Hi everyone!

After a long long time, we've finally have a first official release of AnyRail 7.
Some things have moved in the interface, but most things should look familiar.

The most important changes are in the fact that it is a 64 bits version of the software, and that we've improved the 3D viewer a lot.

Also, we've added the concept of table tops and modules.

Even after much and intensive testing, you still might encounter some minor glitches. If so, just let us know, either in the forum or via support@anyrail.com

Have fun with it!

David.

I just started experimenting with the new version.  My river segments (blue lines with elevations) are visible in the 3-D view!  My biggest problem is deciding whether to read about the updates, or just discover them.   ;D

I love it!

Great improvement, congratulations David!

David, a summary of all the changes made would be helpful. I see red dots at various places on my Kato Unitrack layout. Are these terminal joiners? The red marks also appear in locations where I have modified the track joiners to allow the adjustable track sections to slide in and out (the ends of my removable bridge). I also have black insulated joiners that do not show up.

The red dots mean that the connections are not perfect. There may be a slight gap or a slight angle (kink) between the tracks there.

We will make a list of changes!

Issue with version 7. When I attempt to open 7 the I get a crash message. After closing that out I am usually able to use 7. When I am using version 6 I am able to have object libraries remain open. I will click and drag them to my second screen and when I log out they remain in place. With 7 I have to re-launch each library after I log out and very often the design I am working on doesn't save

David

Could you please send the crash log to us?

Is it possible to get a tally of the number of railjoiners required (ie number of individual tracks, turnouts, ..)?

Hi David!

I'm sorry I wasn't able to do any beta testing after all; life got in the way!

My question is:

As I last paid for version 5, I assume I will have to pay for Version 7, and that, in the meantime, Version 7 is only a trial version.

Is that correct?

Cheers,

@Nick: That is correct.

Hi David, I think I started with a paid v6, and could upgrade a few days ago with no issues to a full v7. Reading your above answer, does that mean there is a time limit to the paid subscription?

David

No, there is no time limit. It works as follows:

If you've purchased a license for version x, the upgrade to version x+1 is free. The upgrade to version x+2 (or x+3 or x+4) is available at 50% of the regular price.

Example:
If you've first purchased a license for version 6, the upgrade to version 7 is free.

If you've first purchased a license for version 5, you already had your free upgrade to version 6. The upgrade to version 7 is then available for you with a 50% discount, but you need to acquire the discount link for it first via:

I hope this clarifies it!

Very nice update, David. I think the look and layout of the interface is a good improvement.

A couple of issues I've run into;

1) when saving changes to a layout created in version 6, I get the following message;
QuotePlease use another filename.
("Save as")
This is just a simple save over the top of the same layout file.

2) when using the 'Straight Flex' feature to change the length of a piece of flexible track that is already attached to another (or just straighten to the same length) something weird seems to happen with the join points, which no longer correspond to the ends of the track piece.

Both issues encountered with v7.0.13 and v7.0.16 on Windows 10 22H2, AMD Ryzen 9 5950X with Radeon RX 6900 XT and 128 GB DDR4-3600 CL18. Can provide logs if you let me know how and I'm happy to replicate via Zoom or whatever if that would help.

I had a brief look in the 'Problems' section but couldn't see these specific issues, so apologies if these are known issues that are already being worked on.

EDIT: Fixed image display (kind of), updated version both issues were replicated to v7.0.16

David

@JamFjord: do you have a licensed version of AnyRail 7? We've built in a check to prevent overwriting version 6 files with an unlicensed version 7, so that you won't be forced into purchasing a version 7 license because of 'losing' your work made with a licensed version 6. If that is not it, please let me know!

The endpoints issue needs to be fixed. I recognize it from an earlier version 6.

Sorry for the inconvenience, I thought this post was lost in the amount of posts  ???
