Shorten Point Lengths to Connect them

Does it already exist, or is it possible to have the option to connect points that would require shortening to connect them? This is obviously simple in practice when creating the physical layout, so it would be great to be able to reflect this accurately in the design. If they are not connected things like isolators, sections etc can't be represented correctly. An example is attached. Any advice on how to achieve this would be appreciated. Thanks.
