List of materials by section

Overall, I am thrilled with Anyrail 7 but just wondered if there is any way I can get a subset of the list of materials rather than the entire layout list. For example, I have developed a layout with essentially two sections, a basic and an expanded. I would like to complete the basic section first for two reasons (expense and my age). If I can do so, I hope that I can continue on with the expanded version. At the moment I can envision a solution but it would require me to save a copy of my current file and then delete everything in the expanded selection to result in only the basic section whereupon I can summarize the list of materials. Perhaps there is a way that can be done without tearing my file apart but I can't find anything in the documentation.

Thanks to any who can issue a solution.

The simplest way, given your lack of layers, is to define at least two layers, one to contain all the green track, and one to contain all the red track. The other layers can be used to segregate scenery and the like.

I would do it like this:

Add a layer and call it Stage 1. Then select all the green track (you may have to do this in stages). With each selection, go to the dialog box called Layers, and select Stage 1. When you have finished, all the green track ought to be in the Stage 1 layer.

Repeat by adding a layer called Stage 2 and transfer all the red track into it, as above.

Now you can rename Layer 1 by double-clicking on the name and editing it to be Scenery or whatever (there is no limit to the number of layers, my current layout has about 80!)

Now when you produce a List of Materials, each layer will have its own list, as well as the overall one at the beginning.

Hope this helps!
