Hi David, here is yet another wish, I have by now mentioned several times that I am trying designs for a prototypical railway. This design has now gone through several iterations. Sometimes there are large areas of the design I wish to copy. It would be nice to be able to click and drag a box that on realeasing the mouse button selects all the track sections in the box (rather like you can selecting multiple objects in most drawing/dtp programmes), a right click menu that allows you to copy, create section, select inverse, list track objects and so on would be ideal.

Well, most of these wishes will be realized in version 4, where you can quite easily select a part of your layout and copy it into another one.

Select inverse is not in it in the sense you indicate here though.

Just a little more patience!

Note: all upgrades to the upcoming version 4 will be free for people who have bought a license for version 3.

I am using version 4, but I can not see how to make sections without havint to select each object one a time, see the attached jpg I want to make the whole station area to a section. Is there no way other than clicking on each object?

Hi David, now I have gone away and read the help. I can see that you can do what I want by adding isolaters to define the ends of a section., So there is an easy way, but  I still think that being able to use the mouse to multiple select would be helpfull

I think the only way to easily do what you want is to have David create what is called a 'free-form' select. In other words, to select, you outline an area with a mouse, but it doesn't have to be rectangular. That way you can outline the part you want to select a lot more closely.
