Greetings, ya'll. I beginning to think I've lost my touch, and mind, they DO go together... (;

I cannot figure out how to create curved and round edges of the base board.

I WOULD so appreciate, all of the help I can get.

Many thanks, ya'll...

Hi Taz,

Your best bet is to read up in the manual about surfaces, and the different styles of points.

Basically, I look on the baseboard as being a surface, and my corners are always square, as my carpentry is abysmal. So, let's assume you have a board 2' x 2' and you want a round corner of about 3" radius. I always place one corner of any surface I am working on at an easy set of co-ordinates, makes it easy to measure out things and can always be moved into its proper position when it's finished. So, again assuming that 0, 0 is still at the top of your plan, insert a square 24" x 24" and then set the top left corner to 0,0.

Let's now round the bottom right corner (24, 24). Move the mouse pointer over the vertical line, about 3" up from the corner. Right click, and then select the option to Add point. Next, select the new point, click on Move Point in the ribbon and set its co-ordinates to 24, 21.

Now do the same on the horizontal line, except that the co-ordinates will be 21, 24. Now select the corner, and click Round corner. For any round corner, just do the same, but vary the distance from the corner as required. Make sure that both new points are the same distance from the corner, otherwise your corner will come out lop-sided.

As far as curved corners are concerned, I avoid them! It's basically achieved by drawing a multi-point line as part of your surface, setting all the points that you need to Curved, and then manipulating them until it looks right.

Hopefully, David will also read this (and correct me!), and he if anybody would have some sort of formula to draw curves.

Hope this helps,

Nick

Indeed, using 'Round corner' on a table top point will give you a circular arc, with a radius equal to the distance to the nearest neighboring table top point, or half of that if the nearest neighboring point is also set to 'round'.
This may sound harder than it is.

Curved corner will create a curved edge to both neighboring points, but with the curve adjusted to the distance to those points, so it is not a circular arc.

Don't use too many points, as that makes it hard to create a nice curve.
