Anyrail would be 100/100 if it had......

1. A library for Skaledale buildings and structures
2. A library for Bachmann Scenecraft buildings and structures
3. A button to gauge between flexi track circuits so you don't plan a                   layout that is impossible to run

Anyrail is still the best track planning software I've used though, even without these items

David

Hi Andy,

Nice idea to run a poll!
What do you mean by point 3. Is it to create parallel tracks with flex?

Personally I'd rather see the Kibri, Faller, or Vollmer building catalogue  ;D

I agree with you Kimbo. However, that would be almost a big a task as building up that stupendous library of tracks from around the world. Also, many of the buildings have the same dimensions as each other. And again, many buildings have a pavement (sidewalk to our friends across the Atlantic) round them; so do you show the outline of the building, or the sidewalk or, come to that, both?

All the best from a stormy Skye,

If it did have it though, it would absolutely be the ultimate software!  ;D

2nd for more buildings! A tool to make rectangles where you simply put in the dimensions would be handy too.

So 'insert', 'box' then a pop up screen appears, L = xx W = xx, click okay and bam!

Chris

Or, as in many applications, place the mouse at the position of one of the corners and drag it to the opposite corner with the dimensions displayed in the status bar.

How about a "User's Library" wherein a user can store the basic box shapes for buildings, circles for trees and LEDs, (or ANY shapes) that the system can currently draw, with a name attached. Keep it separate from the system's own libraries, though to avoid contamination and mixups.

Would this not result in not-transportable AnyRail files ? If you upload your AR-file on this forum or send the file to somebody, your "User's Library" would be missing.

It would depend on whether the .any file contains all the information to create the layout, or whether it draws on the library. From experience I would say that the former applies. The reason I say this is because when Marklin Z first appeared in the library the library went through a number of updates but the .any file would continue to show the older version of the track symbols.

Best wishes,
Chris.
