Hello everyone.

We often get requests to add certain buildings, trees, or other scenery elements. As we can't possibly add them all (there are tens of thousands of them), we offer a place here to upload your work for others to use.

Please give your post a clear description, including the scale, and, if applicable, the name of the manufacturer of the kits or items you've drawn. Product numbers help too!

We will try to reorder and regroup things if necessary to keep it manageable.

Thanks a lot for your entries!

David.

Thanks David, now if evryone just puts their contributions in a reply to the first post in a certain scale , we won't have to sort that out.

I was thinking 2 categories for each scale, Structures and Scenery, how does that sound?
My layout is American themed, so if theres anyone else that can contribute European Structures.

Now all we need is a spot on the ribbon to put them or a nice notebook to load them into... :D

Could we Brits have an OO gauge post as well !

Capt. Brigg

I think it would be nice to post a recommended procedure for creating and using these new structures. I already see a lot of difference in complexity of the structures being submitted. I have tried to create some structures using the tools in AR and find it difficult to create complex structures (roofs with peaks, silos, parking lots etc). I can create bit mapped structures in other drawing programs but cannot get them copied into AR. I do not find an explanation in the manual for the "load image" button under <tools/lines and surfaces> and cannot get it to add a .BMP image. Any help will further the cause.  ???

I hope I cover this correctly. First off, here is the procedure for importing a graphic into AR-

1- Create a basic shape as a Surface (using Lines/Surfaces)

2- Click to select the Surface

3- Click the Load image... button in the Ribbon

4- Go through the usual thing of picking the file from your hard drive.

As for your second question about why it won't import a .bmp image, I don't know. I tried it and also couldn't get it to work. This feels like a bug, to me, since it loads .jpg's without a second look.

If you "Brits" want 00 Scale, then you should create and submit them. User participation! Welcome!

By the way, if BMP (Bitmap) import is not implemented, that could be the reason they don't import. The jpgs work just fine, and most programs can output jpgs, which tend to be better quality, anyway. Try them and see if that works for you.

I would personally like to see each upload be accompanied by a .jpg picture, just to save time.

A .JPG for single items would be good, but for large groups it would not help much, if at all.

Ah, but a truly LARGE group (if there are any) can be broken down into manageable parts using the 'view area only' menu choice. :)

Hi Guys
Sorry if this seems like a silly question, but how do you use these files - as they are .any files with a series of images - i understand how to paste in images from your hard drive but am kinda lost on this.

Thanks
Mark

If you wish to use something in one of these files, click on the file and load it into AnyRail.

Save it somewhere convenient.

Open the file and copy the graphic element, say a car or truck, building, or tree, that you want.

Minimize AnyRail.

Open a SECOND instance of AnyRail (Just open the program again while the first one is still running and minimized.).

Paste the item you copied into your own plan in an unused area (there is a reason to put it in an unused space).

Drag it to where you wish.

If it disappears, press CTRL-Z to undo the drag.

Check the HEIGHT of the item you want to drag and compare it to the height of where you want it to appear. If the item is lower than where you place it it will be UNDER ground, or under something.

Change the Height if necessary. to match where you wish to put it.

Re-drag it to where you wish it to appear.

If using LAYERS, now is a good time to put it in a layer. I have Scenery in a Scenery Layer, Buildings in a Buildings Layer, and Cars, Trucks, and such in a Vehicles Layer. It can be handy to have them in layers as you can make them disappear out of your way when needed, and reappear when you wish.

You can continue copying and pasting by switching back and forth between the two instances of AnyRail.

Repeat as desired. Don't forget to save before exiting YOUR plan. I recommend that you do NOT make changes to the Vehicles, Scenery, or Building file unless adding to it. Moving things around usually causes a mess.

Enjoy.

Awesome thanks Bill, that cleared up the confusion and is working for me.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm trying to add a jpg building using the method described by Jeff on Dec 22 2010 (ok, I know it's a long time ago) but I can't find the Load Image prompt anywhere. Am I having a senior moment or does this facility no longer exist in the latest AnyRail (I updated it yesterday to 4.25) or is there another reason?

All I want to do is include some jpg drawings to my layout so I can do some town planning.

Grateful for any help.

Richard,

Did you create a surface? Once you created the surface the "Line and Surfaces" menu is active. Click on "Load image", then "Adjust outline", after that adjust the size to what you need.

PS make sure it is JPEG format!
