Missing Turntable in Library?

Hi all.  I'm pulling out my hair trying various designs in AnyRail before I actually start the physical build.  It's much easier to correct any issues now I think than after you've set down multi-feet of track...

Anyway, one of my designs calls for a Turntable.  I am using the Atlas HO Code 83 Library and one does not exist in it.  Is it something that will eventually be added, or am I stuck to go back and forth between librairies for the ones that do have a Turntable? (and then there's the issue of compatibility)

I found with other design software that I used prior to finding the gem of AnyRail, that this was also the case.  Is there even such a beast as a 83 Code Turntable?

Thanks in advance
Jeff

Somehow I doubt you'll find a code 83 turntable (at the moment, anyway).  I agree that there SHOULD be one. As for wondering if one will eventually be manufactured, I think you're better off asking that of a company like Atlas that makes a code 83 track system. But speaking of Atlas, I recall that their HO turntable wasn't engineered to have included approach tracks. There are simply little 'trays' where you bring your tracks onto the table apron and secure them. That way you can use the standard #305 Manual Turntable with code 83 track. This is one way that AnyRail can be quite valuable- showing you which track system you should be using for the layout you want to design.

That said, Atlas does have their own online forums, so you might want to start up this topic there (just to get their side of this story).

Hi Jeff <G> I feel like I'm talking to myself...

Anyway, Thanks for the reply.  It's too bad that Atlas does not have a Turntable available for Code 83.  However - I had an idea cross my mind and thought I would toss it out there...

I know there have been cases where Code 100 and 83 have been mixed on the same layout with an adapter track (or whatever the technical name for it is) and I noticed that the Code 100 library does in fact have a turntable.  My question is - Does Atlas carry an adapter and if so, can this be added to future versions / updates of AnyRail? - As I don't readily see one available in the current library...  (A question, I suppose - Should be directed towards David)

This of course would solve the dilemma within the Atlas Code 83 library and the elusive Turntable.

Jeff

Edit: Added adapter question to WishList Forum...

Perhaps you can use the Atlas transition joiners (part number 551)?

Jeff-

I believe, if you think about it, that you don't NEED a transition track adapter. The Atlas turntable doesn't have molded-in stubs for people to connect approach or apron tracks to- it has 'trays' where you lay down the approach track, then screw or nail it down. Therefore, all you need to do is to trim or shim things to make sure that the approach tracks are at the same height (railhead-wise) as the turntable bridge rail. That's why Atlas hasn't turned out any transition joiners or track pieces for this situation.

Hi David,

551 "would" be a great solution - But in my particular library - 551 does not exist.  I use the Atlas Code 83 library and it jumps from part 547 to 554.  If it was there, I would have seen it and gladly used it  :)

It's nice to know however, that a transition track (Joiner) does actually exist (somewhere...)

Thanks,
Jeff

Thanks for your reply as well Jeff...
